RIA sends only the reference text you explicitly submit to the RIVS API and, as needed, to Crossref and PubMed. RIVS does not persist reference text or validation results on its servers.
Active batch data is held in Chrome session storage and is cleared when the browser session ends. Consent and display preferences may remain locally until the extension is removed or reset.
RIVS records aggregate counts, latency, service errors, and software versions without reference text, page URLs, DOI, PMID, or application-level user identifiers. Cloudflare processes network metadata as the infrastructure provider.
Queries may be submitted to Crossref and the U.S. National Library of Medicine PubMed service under their respective policies. Database absence does not prove that a reference is false or AI-generated.
